Haunted Mansion Photo Essay

Happy Friday! As many of you know, this past week both here at Walt Disney World and over at Disneyland have been chaotic due to the large crowds that visit the resorts. I was in the park to take photos for my Dateline Disney World column over at MiceChat, and while I was there, I thought I would try to find a way to creatively capture and tell the story of this busy time. So, here’s a photo essay from the Haunted Mansion -

Alright, so it’s a little short, and maybe we should call it a photo paragraph instead of an essay. But, I thought it was fun and put a unique spin on things. The first photo of the Cast Member was taken right next to the entrance of the Liberty Square Riverboat, which is interesting in its own right. The 2nd photo is kind of a documentarian style shot, recording a time that you don’t see very often for the Haunted Mansion. And lastly, the third photo is an interesting one, at least in my opinion because of the sea of people waiting for the Mansion, as well as the fact that they were utilizing the old boat dock/Riverboat exit for part of the queue. That dock never gets used, so it never really is interesting in terms of photographs. Except for when it is full of “patient” guests waiting to someday board their Doom Buggies.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed this! For those curious, all three photos were shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM lens. They were all edited and converted to black and white using Lightroom 4. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!!

I have never seen a wait time or standing line like thast for the HM. Was this New Years day?

This was actually on January 2nd. I would not want to be there on the 1st, or even on New Year’s Eve!

Wow, props to you Cory for braving those crowds. From Christmas week to about mid January are my personal “blackout dates” for WDW.
