Highway in the Fiery Sky
Today’s photo comes to us from, of all places, a parking lot.
After walking from a nice evening of Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, we noticed a beautiful sunset. Now, the entire 2 hours we were inside the park, the clouds took over the sky and there was no color whatsoever. I believe it even rained a bit. When we saw these colors, I immediately started kicking myself for leaving, asking myself why we couldn’t get them while we were near interesting things to photograph. Thankfully that evening, we were parked out in one of the back lots at Epcot, and when we came through here, we saw these colors lighting up the sky and reflecting in the water. After that, it was literally 20 seconds before this monorail got to us. Normally I have to wait ten minutes for a monorail, and by that time, the colors would have gone away! I almost didn’t even have enough time to dial in my settings to freeze the monorail.
In editing this photo, I made no adjustments to the white balance at all. The colors actually looked just like this when we were there. Since I focused and metered on the monorail, I had to pull down the highlights in the sky just a tad. Even after exposing for the monorail, I felt it was a little bit too dark, so I used an adjustment brush in Lightroom and boosted the exposure on just the monorail.
This photo was taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 lens, both of which are available at Amazon. If you shop at Amazon, please click our links here, that way you can help support us. Thanks for reading!!
