Paradise at the Pier

Today’s photo comes from a lovely blue hour at Disney California Adventure.

This shot actually has a fun story to go with it. About 15 or 20 minutes before I took this one, I was standing in the Hub at Disneyland taking photographs of the castle with some nice and soft light on it. I turned around and noticed that the blue hour was approaching, and approaching fast. So, I packed everything up and made a beeline for DCA. Waiting for the turnstiles at DCA felt like forever, and once I finally got into the park, I walked very briskly over to Paradise Pier to get some beautiful blue hour work in. These shots are a dime a dozen, but I had never gotten one of my own, so it was high on my list on my last trip out there.

This was 3 exposures shot off of a tripod blended together and then tweaked in Lightroom doing my normal workflow. The colors were a little warmer in my RAW files, so I just toned them down a bit and ended up pretty happy with the result. The shot was taken with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens, both of which are available at Amazon. I know it’s been done before, but I really like the colors in this one. One of my favorites from this perspective.
