The Mayor of Main Street, U.S.A.

We all know that there are many photo opportunities at the different Disney theme parks. Main Street, U.S.A. is probably one of the most photographed places in any of the parks because it represents visiting Disney for so many people. A family will first enter at the start of their vacation and want to get photos of each other on Main Street with the castle behind them. Then there are the different character spots and parades that make their way down Main Street during the day and night.

I have mentioned in the past that I enjoy spending time on Main Street, U.S.A. in the morning to photograph what is going on around me. Between all the different cast members, characters and guests entering the park – there is a lot to see and photograph. I have always been a big fan of the human element type of photo, which Scott Smith on flickr has done a tremendous job of capturing at Walt Disney World (seriously, check out his great human element photos).

Today, I am going to showcase some photos of the different cast members of Main Street, U.S.A. that make it such a great place to be. I see this as being the first in a series of articles showcasing cast members from other parks around Walt Disney World. ¬†You probably don’t realize it when you are there, but these different cast members (from performers to the every day shop worker) can be great photo subjects. Hopefully some of the shots today give you some ideas for your next trip.

Make sure you pay attention to all the Mickey hands waving at you when you enter the park, you may notice a few other characters mixed in.

I noticed this cast member was having a hard time getting his Mickey glove on. He did get it on right after I took the photo and had a great time welcoming guests to the park.

Don't put the camera away when you step inside a store, there are still many great photo opportunities available.

So next time you are at a Disney park, don’t focus your camera on just attractions or characters but start looking at some of the cast members who make the parks so great. You will be surprised at how many great photo opportunities you will find.

Great series of shots, Adam! There really is nothing that beats a casual stroll down Main Street in the morning. You’ve captured that feeling very well in these images, I think this is something I will have to try during our next trip.
