General Photography Questions

Do you recommend any specific camera or gear?
Yes, we have compiled a list of our gear suggestions for you and have included links to some of the major online retailers so you can check for the best price. We try to keep this page updated every two months so it will reflect any new gear.
Photography in the Parks

Are tripods allowed in the parks?
Yes, tripods are allowed at all four Walt Disney World theme parks and also at Disneyland and California Adventure. There have been some problems reported of tripod use in Disneyland, though officially it is still allowed. Just be sure to not get in the way of other guests when setting up and follow any rules that the park has enforced.
Since I now know that tripods are allowed, what can I do with mine while in the park?
If your camera bag has a strap to hold your tripod, you are more than welcome to keep it with you all day. It will not be a problem on any of the rides. If you do not want to keep it with you at all times, you can rent a locker at each of the parks to store it. If you rent a locker in the Magic Kingdom and then head over to Epcot that evening, be sure to show them your receipt from the Magic Kingdom and you will not have to pay for another locker. This is only good for same day rentals and will not carry over to your entire trip length.

You have some great photos from Pirates and Haunted Mansion on the site but I thought photography was not allowed on the rides?
Photography is allowed on the dark rides at Disney, just not flash photography. As long as you have a dslr with a fast lens, you can capture great photos on the dark rides without using your flash. For more information on this subject, you can read a three part series from Todd Hurley on Disney Photography Blog.
