Today’s photo is from Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Photographing the Citizens of Hollywood is a ton of fun. I think they’re my favorite thing at DHS to photograph, with maybe Tower of Terror beating them. It’s a close race. I had never seen this citizen before, but just like all the others, he had me laughing within seconds.
One of the great things about the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens I’ve been shooting with a lot lately is the fact that it is really easy to take what I call “environmental portraits” with it. What I mean by that is that yes, you are taking a portrait of the person, but at the same time, you’re really seeing them in their element. It isn’t simply a headshot. And sure, you can do that with any lens that has that focal length, but having the f/1.4 makes it possible to really isolate the subject from the background, really placing the emphasis of the composition on them. It’s a really neat effect, and just one reason that this lens is a special one.
This shot was taken with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IIIΒ and the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Lens, both of which are available at Amazon. If you shop at Amazon, click our links within the article to help support the site! Thanks for reading!
