One thing I try to do at Disney now (and elsewhere when shooting), is to capture more people in my shots. I have always been a big fan of Scott Smith’s Human Element Photos and they have inspired me on recent trips. Photographing the cast members at Disney can result in some fun photos, they all seem to enjoy posing and having their photo taken. What I enjoy though is trying to capture them while they are in the moment of doing their job. When you are able to capture people without them knowing they are being photographed, you can end up with some great photos.

Today I am showcasing a series of cast member photos taken on a recent trip. Next time you are out with your camera (at Disney or elsewhere), try to photograph the people around you. It can take some getting use to, but you will quickly realize that it is a new way to enjoy photography and will probably end up with some fun shots.

It is not uncommon to walk through a Disney park and see Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy or your other favorite character. It does take you by surprise though the first time you see them drawn on the sidewalk using water. Chances are you have seen these water drawings before and you know how cool they are. Really, who doesn’t like sidewalk art created using water!

We all know that there are many photo opportunities at the different Disney theme parks. Main Street, U.S.A. is probably one of the most photographed places in any of the parks because it represents visiting Disney for so many people. A family will first enter at the start of their vacation and want to get […]

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom. During the holiday season, the trolley show still happens every morning, but with the performers (and the trolley) in holiday garb. It’s a really nice way to start the day off, and can lead to some great shots! This one was […]

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from my favorite part of Disneyland, New Orleans Square. At certain points of the day, this group comes out and plays jazz and dixieland tunes for park guests. They’re a ton of fun, and some very talented individuals. As a huge fan of jazz music and being a saxophonist […]
