If you’re a Disney fan photographer, you probably recognize the space in the photo above, but for those who don’t, this is Court des Anges (Court of Angels) in New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Since New Orleans Square opened in July 1966 – only months before Walt Disney’s passing – the Court des Anges has been one of the most secluded, relaxing, and photogenic places in any theme park in the world.

Unfortunately, the future of the Court is currently in doubt. There’s been no official confirmation either way, but based on reports from journalist David Koenig among others, it is now widely believed that Court des Anges will be closing forever to Disneyland guests after September 28, 2013 – a victim of its proximity to Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 and all the potential revenue that an expansion of the Club could bring.

Today, I’m very excited to be sharing my first photo from the newly reimagined Disney California Adventure park. Naturally, I’m sharing a shot from my favorite part of the whole park, Buena Vista Street. To appreciate this photo completely, you first have to think back to what was in this space before the billion dollar […]

I have now been to the Disneyland Resort four times this summer and I have not stepped foot inside of Disneyland Park.  I never thought I would ever say that and it speaks volumes about the current state of Disney California Adventure.  The new additions of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street have taken the […]

Photographing the Mad T Party

Cars Land and Buena Vista Street opened last month along with another attraction that seems to get a lot less attention, the Mad T Party. Mad T Party is Disney California Adventure’s latest dance party, replacing the popular ElecTRONica in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Love them or hate them, these dance parties are quite popular with local teens and twenty-somethings. The loud music and the craziness on the dance floor might be offputting for some, but I highly recommend photographers check it out as the high-energy scene with bright lights, colors and shapes make for some incredible photo opportunities. It’s quite challenging, too, which is an added benefit for anyone looking to expand their skills to include low-light concert style photography.

Hey guys! It’s been about a month since Cars Land opened at the remodeled Disney California Adventure, and the main attraction, Radiator Springs Racers is still holding queues of 100-120 minutes on a daily basis. The ride experience is outstanding, with extensive dark ride scenes, sweeping wide outdoor vistas, and of course, racing! There are […]
