This Way to Be Our Guest
Today’s photo comes from New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.
I spent a good amount of time in New Fantasyland on my visit to Magic Kingdom this weekend. While the area may not have a ton of substance while the Mine Train is being built, it really does have a lot of great detail and looks great. I only brought a fisheye lens with me on this day just to have some fun with, and I found this shot. I thought it was pretty cool to have all the rubble and broken down rock in the foreground leading to the very precise work on the bridge leading up to the castle. Having an awesome Florida sky also helps. I imagine this shot being nowhere near as interesting if we only had blue sky that day.
In editing this shot, I did my basic workflow. The RAW file didn’t capture a ton of blue in the skies, so I saturated the blue channel and also lowered the luminance on the blue channel until it looked right. I also had to clone out a light fixture in the top right hand corner of the frame. That’s one of the perils of shooting fisheye – things you didn’t think would be in the frame somehow show up!
This shot was taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the Rokinon 7.5mm Fisheye Lens, both of which can be purchased at Amazon. If you shop at Amazon, please click the links here in the article and then anything you buy afterwards will help support the site! Thanks for reading!
