Photo Report: Disney Parks Blog Haunted Mansion Treat Up
Last night, I had the good fortune to attend the Disney Parks Blog Haunted Mansion Treat Up. It was a fun night, definitely a unique after-hours experience in the Magic Kingdom. Similarly to the Star Tours event in May, we first registered at Blizzard Beach and then were bused to the backstage of the Magic Kingdom. We entered in Frontierland; it was the same entrance that they take you through on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. We were then led to the Hall of Presidents for a short presentation by the Disney Parks Blog Team (including a costumed giant Turkey Leg!) and Imagineer Jason Surrell. It was a funny, lighthearted presentation that concluded with a question and answer session.
After the initial presentation, we were given a trick or treat bag full of candy, similar to what you collect at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We were then permitted to wander. Many attendees were in costume and I believe that there was a costume contest, with prizes. Sadly, my Mickey and Minnie Trick or Treat shirt from Target didn’t draw any attention from the judges. There was a fun spread of drinks and spooky desserts (one resembled an eyeball!). A few characters were out in their Halloween costumes and Lady Renalda wandered the area before setting up residence in front of the Mansion to entertain the guests. The Haunted Mansion was open for riding and several imagineers gave a guided tour of the new interactive queue. Finally, before the night concluded, we gathered in Liberty Square for a special surprise- to see the Headless Horseman ride through the area!
It was a very unique experience. I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Disney Parks Blog for hosting the event and also to Cody Sims, for allowing me to attend the event as his guest!
We want to thank Katie for taking the time to send in these photos this morning. She is currently at Walt Disney World to attend the 40th anniversary celebration and will have many great photos to share when she gets back.
